Tabaku: Freelance professionals unable to access essential services from tax authorities

TIRANA, Jan 29 /ATA/ The DP MP, Jorida Tabaku, stated today that the government’s entire information technology infrastructure is currently down, making it nearly impossible to access essential services through the tax authorities, public institutions, and the e-Albania platform.

Tabaku emphasized, “The business sector is in crisis, with freelance professionals facing the greatest challenges.”

She further stated that freelance professionals are unable to carry out fundamental tasks such as generating invoices, calculating costs, or performing even basic analyses of their daily operations using the self-care system.

“Imagine a freelance professional, a small business owner working tirelessly from dawn till dusk, yet unable to issue a single invoice,” she emphasized.

According to Tabaku, this refers to regular taxpayers—individuals who are compliant with the state, paying increased taxes and high fiscalization costs, but receiving little to no service in return.
Tabaku stated, “This is the ‘government of services’—a government awarding empty accolades.” She further questioned who would be held accountable for the current state of affairs.

In conclusion, she describes the current reality as paradoxical: a “digital” Albania that cannot even provide certificates for businesses, and responds to local enterprises with nothing but an “ERROR 404.”

According to her, this digital collapse is plunging businesses into crisis and eroding citizens’ trust in the state.
