TIRANA, Jan 26 /ATA/ “The General Director of the Tax Administration, Ilir Binaj, announced today that, in addition to the primary sectors that have been under scrutiny—namely construction, tourism, and food safety—online commerce is another sector for which the Tax Administration is developing concrete plans to address during the current year.”
At the joint press conference with the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, the head of the Tax Administration, Binaj, stated that data is being collected, including from banks, regarding payments made through digital platforms in online commerce.
He emphasized that these cases will be handled by the relevant departments within the Tax Administration.
Binaj also pointed out that additional sector-specific initiatives are taken as a follow-up to measures introduced last year, such as those related to automobile sales.
He noted that the initial phase for this sector, which involved about 100 individuals, is nearly complete and has produced very satisfactory results, with inspections set to continue at the same level of intensity throughout the year.
The sale of shares has also been identified as a high-risk sector, particularly transactions between individuals in various companies that do not reflect the shares’ actual market value.”
“The Tax Administration has developed a new model for assessing these transactions, which will be addressed this year, as they are also considered a high-risk sector,” said Binaj.
