TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, and Member of Parliament Jorida Tabaku, who also serves as the Chair of the Committee on Human Rights and Public Information, met on Friday in the Parliament’s Presidency with Gunther Krichbaum, the Minister for Europe in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Bardhi expressed his appreciation to Minister Krichbaum for the support that both he and Germany have offered Albania in its integration journey.
“I stressed that Albania’s European integration should be about implementation of European standards within the country, rather than being used as a disguise for poor governance. The opposition fully supports an integration process that is based on standards and merit,” Bardhi underlined.
In this process, Bardhi emphasized, “It remains crucial for Albania to guarantee free and fair elections, good governance for the benefit of citizens, the fight against corruption and the ties between government and organized crime, allowing judicial bodies to carry out their work with integrity and independence in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, as well as the democratic functioning of institutions, particularly the Parliament of Albania.”
