Rama: Information landscape contaminated, it is needed persistence to showcase our work

TIRANA, Jan 16 /ATA/ Prime Minister, also the Socialist Party leader Edi Rama criticized the state of the country’s media landscape during today’s SP parliamentary group meeting, describing it as “contaminated” and highlighting a significant lack of media interest in covering the government’s and the ruling majority’s activities.
Speaking about the recent flooding and emergency situations, Rama said that during such dramatic events, certain media outlets and analysts have used natural disasters as an opportunity to spread accusations and misinformation, distorting the truth.
He pointed out that even when faced with facts or found to be inaccurate, they refuse to apologize or correct their positions, opting instead to steer the debate towards irrelevant issues that shift focus away from the main point.
The Prime Minister stressed that there is no genuine interest in informing the public about what the government and institutions are doing.

“We must utilize every available platform. There is no interest in telling the public what we’re working on. There is no effort to communicate any of our actions to the public, and what we share on social media is driven by necessity. Otherwise, how would people know? At the very least, our supporters—those who follow, vote for, and trust us—should be aware of what we’re doing. If we don’t share it on social media, they’ll think the only thing we do is what others say about us,” said Rama.

In this context, Rama called for a full re-engagement of the entire parliamentary group, including MPs, ministers, and deputy ministers, urging them to make use of every parliamentary and public platform to communicate their work and showcase the “other Albania.”

“We need a lot of persistence, and this requires a full re-engagement from the entire parliamentary group, all MPs, all ministers, and former ministers, to utilize the space in Parliament, to take advantage of other platforms wherever and whenever possible, and to show what we are doing for the ‘other Albania.’ This is a ‘different Albania,’ no doubt about it,” said Rama.

Rama explained that the opposition’s lack of support is tied to the public’s evaluation of their actual performance.

“The reason no one votes for them, and why, even according to our internal polls—which have always been reliable—even now, when we are not at our peak as we were right after the elections, they are in an even worse position than they were after the elections. Of course, they technically won, but in reality, they lost because the public values what we are actually doing,” said Rama.
