Bank transactions rise, 5.6 billion euros processed in 11 months

TIRANA, Jan 12 /ATA/ – Bank transactions in Albania increased in 2025, with 356,609 euro-denominated payments processed in the first 11 months of the year, totaling 5.6 billion euros, central bank data showed on Monday.

According to the Bank of Albania, the volume of transactions rose by 11% compared with the same period a year earlier.

In November alone, banks processed 32,714 euro transactions worth 513.8 million euros, reflecting increased use of banking channels for cross-border payments and trade-related transactions.

The rise in electronic payments has been driven by digitalisation, lower costs and greater ease of use, supported by payment systems such as AIPS and SEPA, the central bank said.

The Bank of Albania said it expects the trend to strengthen further with the rollout of an instant payment system, which will allow real-time transactions.
