TIRANA, Jan 10 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday that crews from Albania’s Road Authority (ARRSH) are working around the clock to keep roads open amid heavy rain and snowfall.
The government head said 130 snowploughs and about 800 ARRSH workers have been deployed nationwide to maintain traffic flow and ensure road safety, as adverse weather conditions continue.
He urged drivers to exercise increased caution, reduce speed and use winter tyres and snow chains, particularly in mountainous areas where snowfall has hampered mobility.
Citing ARRSH data, Rama said the road authority currently has 130 snow-clearing vehicles, 577 additional road-maintenance vehicles and around 800 workers on the ground. He added that about 5,300 tonnes of salt and 1,800 tonnes of grit are available for winter road operations.
Rama said crews are operating in areas where intervention is required to stabilise conditions, adding that work will continue without interruption until the situation fully normalises.
