Police strengthen measures on New Year’s Eve: Increased Personnel and Checkpoints at Tirana’s Entrances and Exits

TIRANA, Dec 30 /ATA/- The Tirana Police have taken a series of measures to ensure the orderly and safe conduct of New Year’s celebrations.

In a press release, the Tirana Police Directorate stated that the presence of uniformed officers and Criminal Police units will be intensified throughout urban areas, with special emphasis on high-traffic locations, to maintain public order and security.

The police will deploy fixed checkpoints at the city’s entrances and exits, complemented by an increase in mobile patrols, to deter illegal activities and enhance public safety.

In addition, traffic monitoring measures will be strengthened through intensified inspections, the use of smart monitoring systems, and patrols along major urban and interurban roads, with the objective of preventing traffic accidents.

Police personnel will carry out continuous inspections of individuals and entities in possession of, or engaged in the sale of, pyrotechnic materials (fireworks and/or firecracker caps) to mitigate risks and prevent accidental incidents.

As part of the measures implemented, the police will increase their presence in public squares, promenades, pedestrian areas, places of worship, entertainment venues (bars, restaurants, nightclubs), and shopping centers, with the objective of ensuring the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Police personnel will remain on standby to respond immediately whenever necessary, and citizens are urged to assist by reporting any illegal activities they encounter to any on-duty patrol, police unit, or via the toll-free numbers 129 and 112.
