TIRANA, December 26 /ATA/ Leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha was in Manzë (Durres) today in context of his “Platform” tour. During his speech, Berisha warned that the opposition will return to the square every night until the government leaves office.
He stated that the opposition will not use violence, but will follow the path of peaceful protests and civic resistance to remove the government from office.
Berisha called on citizens to mobilize in January for a political battle until victory, describing the year 2026 as a decisive moment for the overthrow of what he called the “second dictatorship” and for the salvation of Albania.
“We are a democratic force; we are a democratic opposition. We will use every democratic, non-violent means to expel them. They cannot resist”, said Berisha.
“Now, we must swear, on the appointed day, to occupy the square and return to the square every night until we expel them. Let’s not think that the street is violence, no. The street is our place of peaceful resistance”, he said.
During his speech, Berisha also said that the 2021 and 2025 elections were farces, manipulated through vote buying, the use of state administration, criminal gangs and the distribution of public funds on the eve of the elections.
Berisha stressed that the Democratic Party remains the main opposition force in the country after 35 years, thanks to resistance, acceptance of mistakes and respect for moral and legal principles. /m.q/a.f/r.e/p.s./
