TIRANA, December 23 /ATA/ The afforestation campaign is underway in the Municipality of Elbasan with the aim of planting over 15 thousand new saplings throughout its territory by March.
The process is focused especially on areas damaged by fires and erosion. While considering environmental awareness as a process that starts at school desks, the educational institutions are also being attracted in the process.
In context of this campaign, Mayor of Elbasan Gledian Llatja, together with Director of Elbasan Local Education Office Vesa Llana Lico, joined the students of the 9-year school “Kuqan” to plant trees in the school premises.
Mayor Llatja emphasized that the involvement of the young people is essential for the success of environmental initiatives.
“Youth is the greatest support for a greener environment. For this reason, we will be present in every school in the municipality’s territory running the afforestation and environmental cleaning campaign”, he said.
The Municipality of Elbasan aims to contribute through these activities not only to improve the quality of the environment, but also to educate the younger generation with the values of care and responsibility towards nature. /k.s/a.f/p.s./
