ECAC backs new technology investment to curb aviation’s environmental impact

TIRANA, Dec 6 /ATA/ – Albania’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Saturday it has reaffirmed its commitment to meeting the objectives set by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) for 2026, including strengthening aviation safety, harmonising operating procedures, improving the sector’s economic sustainability and advancing the green transition of the industry.

The pledge was made during the annual meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation from ECAC member states, which focused on reviewing developments in 2025 and setting strategic priorities for the year ahead.

According to the CAA, discussions covered safety standards, operational efficiency, technological innovation and environmental sustainability in aviation.

Participants stressed the importance of European cooperation and the harmonisation of practices among member states, as well as the exchange of data and expertise to improve risk management and sector performance.

Environmental sustainability featured prominently, with member states underlining the need to pursue European policies aimed at cutting emissions, boosting flight efficiency and investing in new technologies to reduce aviation’s environmental footprint.

The outcomes and commitments from the meeting reinforce ECAC’s mission to promote safe, efficient and sustainable civil aviation across Europe. The CAA said it will continue working to implement the agreed initiatives and strengthen cooperation with its European partners.
