TIRANA, Dec 27 /ATAThe Constitutional Court has rescheduled the preliminary hearing of the government’s petition to overturn the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, to December 2.
The panel, composed of Sandër Beci, Sonila Bejtja, and Marsida Xhaferllari, was expected to meet this Thursday, November 27, but according to media reports, the meeting has been adjourned to next week.
At its next session, the panel is expected to determine whether the government’s petition will be admitted for consideration.
The government seeks adjudication of a dispute concerning the division of competencies between the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, on the one hand, and the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), on the other, in relation to the suspension of a member of the Council of Ministers from office.
The government additionally seeks judicial annulment of the anti-corruption court decision, which imposed the suspension of Minister Balluku from office.
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has imposed two security measures on Balluku: suspension from office and a ban on foreign travel.
