EU delegation hosts fair on circular economy: Gonzato highlights green transition and innovation

TIRANA, Nov 26 /ATA/ The EU Delegation to Albania hosted a dedicated fair focused on the private sector and the circular economy, with the aim of fostering innovation and encouraging Albanian businesses to adopt sustainable practices.
The event brought together companies, organisations, and various institutional actors who share a common vision for a cleaner and more efficient economy.
In his remarks, the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, emphasised the importance of informing businesses and citizens about the European integration process and the green transition.
He highlighted in particular the importance of reuse and recycling, noting that these are key pillars for a more sustainable environment.

Albania’s EU accession represents a transformative process impacting all sectors of society. More efforts are needed by both Albania and the EU to raise public awareness about reuse and recycling. Our goal is not to impose standards, but to support businesses in embracing greener and more innovative practices,’ Gonzato said.

He emphasised that the fair represents an important opportunity for Albanian companies, allowing them easier access to European markets, increased investment in technology, and the creation of a more favorable environment for development and innovation.

‘I encourage all businesses to keep abreast and actively engage in this process by investing in innovation that supports Albania’s green transition,’ he added.

Gonzato described the green transition as an inclusive process in which the private sector plays a key role.
He stressed that the European support plan provides Albania with the most favourable conditions to date for progressing towards a sustainable economy.

The fair was viewed as an important step towards strengthening Albanian businesses, helping them adopt new circular economy standards and better prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the European market.
