VAT refunds up 7.2% in first 10 months

TIRANA, Nov 22 /ATA/ – Albania’s VAT refunds to businesses rose sharply in January-October 2025, reaching 21.1 billion leks, up 7.2% from the same period in 2024, according to data from the Finance Ministry.

The Ministry of Finance said on Saturday that the pace of refunds shows the government is continuing to clear obligations to taxpayers on time and support business liquidity.

Net VAT revenues totalled 56.7 billion leks in the first ten months, an increase of 7.5 billion leks, or 15.3%, from a year earlier and 112 million leks above target for the period.

Overall, the tax administration collected 214 billion leks in taxes and duties in the January-October period, up 25 billion leks or 13.2% year-on-year, exceeding the plan by 472 million leks.

The Finance Ministry said the strong performance in refunds and tax revenues reflects higher economic activity, improved tax administration and stronger controls against informality.
