TIRANA, November 18/ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla said today that in 2026 the government will provide a fund of 580 million Lekë for the fishing sector, which means about 10% more than last year.
Salla said that this investment aims to improve the infrastructure and build the proper capacities of the sector, with the aim of bringing it into line with European Union standards and increasing production and exports.
“The transformation of the sector will be achieved through the creation of functional markets, the modernization of spawn centers, building capacities in Butrint area, improving port infrastructure and renewing the fleet and aquaculture,” Salla said.
The minister also said that the foreign investments in the fishing sector have increased by 20%, reaching 253 million lekë compared to 211 million lekë last year. In an effort to support the further development of the sector, according to the minister, the wage fund has increased by 7%, reaching 174 million lekë, from 162 million lekë in 2025. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
