Rama in Brussels: EU accession vision, already adopted as a work plan to keep process on track

TIRANA, Nov 17 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama affirmed from Brussels today that Albania will spare no effort to progress with the same level of intensity and discipline in its accession process towards the European Union.
Following the Seventh Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the EU, Prime Minister Rama held a joint press conference with Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for Enlargement, and Marie Bjerre, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the country holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.”
Rama emphasized that every effort will be made to ensure that this joint process, which is being meticulously built step by step alongside our partners in Brussels and the Member States, will be kept on track.

‘Who would have imagined that we would be here today, opening all the cluster-chapters? Not long ago, this seemed impossible, and we were at a stage where we were learning to endure setbacks and the blows,’ Rama stated.”

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the entire journey has made us more resilient and more aware of the remarkable progress of this entire process.

It has made us more mature either. Here we are today with what was merely a dream just over a year ago, and which has now been transformed into a work plan—a reality with which we engage in our daily lives,’ Rama stated.

Rama expressed his gratitude for the support provided by EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marie Bjerre, with Denmark currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

‘I wish to thank Marie Bjerre for turning the words of the Danish EU Presidency into tangible action on enlargement, offering support and encouragement to move forward. I also extend my gratitude to Commissioner Marta Kos, who has been a steadfast champion of Albania’s accession process, as well as that of the entire Western Balkans, demonstrating tireless commitment and inspiring all of us to act with energy and responsibility to ensure timely delivery,’ Rama stated.
The Prime Minister also stated that he feels inspired by all these months and by the strong support the enlargement process—or Europe’s reunification process for us—is currently receiving.”
