Celibashi announces AI-powered vote counting in Tepelena

TIRANA, Nov 9 /ATA.-Maela Marini/ The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, announced today that artificial intelligence will be implemented for the first time in the municipality of Tepelena to assist in the vote-counting process.

In a press briefing, Celibashi clarified that this information will be published in real time on the Central Election Commission’s website, enabling direct comparison with results obtained through manual vote counting.

Celibashi stated that cameras have been installed at each counting table to record the entire ballot-counting process, as in previous elections. All ballot readings will be processed through an AI-based computer program, which will automatically interpret voter selections and transmit the results directly to the Central Election Commission, eliminating the need for manual tabulation by counting group members.

According to Celibashi, each ballot “is transmitted to the Central Election Commission, where it is processed and read by an AI system on the Commission’s servers.”

He added, “AI is a program that streamlines multiple tasks. In our context, it assists the ballot-counting process.”
