TIRANA, October 31/ATA/ The Parliamentary Law Committee rejected today the opposition’s request for dismissal of President of the Republic Bajram Begaj for continuous serious violations of the Constitution.
The request submitted by 1/4 of the opposition MPs was rejected with 9 votes against.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Law Committee Ulsi Manja announced that the report with all relevant arguments will be presented to the plenary session.
During the committee meeting, the opposition argued that President Begaj has committed violations of the Constitution in at least seven cases, which, according to it, “makes sufficient grounds for his dismissal from office”.
Meanwhile, the report submitted by the ruling majority in the committee indicates that the request submitted by the opposition does not contain grounds to legitimize the establishment of a Parliamentary investigative committee to investigate the alleged violations of a serious nature by the president.
