PM Rama vows ‘Urban Renaissance 2.0’ as clearing public spaces continues

TIRANA, Oct 25 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Saturday his government is pressing ahead with efforts to reclaim public spaces nationwide from businesses and individuals who have encroached on sidewalks and communal areas.

Sharing footage from ongoing clearance operations, Rama wrote on social media: “We move forward to bring Urban Renaissance 2.0.”

Framed as a long-term urban management reform rather than a temporary campaign, the initiative aims to improve city life and make business use of public areas more orderly.

Rama said a new National Regulation is being drafted to define by law which portions of public space may be used by private operators.

Citizens can report violations through the government portal hapesiraimepublike.gov.al, which has so far logged 14,439 complaints – 10,705 resolved and 3,734 under review.
