TIRANA, Oct 14 /ATA/ – Albania has administered more than 130,000 doses of the influenza vaccine across the country during the first two weeks of October as part of its national flu vaccination campaign, the Health Minister said Tuesday.
Health and Social Protection Minister Evis Sala announced the figures during a visit to the primary healthcare center in Shënkoll, Lezhë Municipality, where over 3,500 doses have already been administered by the local health unit.
“The campaign continues with strong momentum in all regions across the country,” Sala said, adding that vaccination remains a key measure to protect public health – especially for vulnerable groups.
A doctor at the Shënkoll center highlighted the importance of raising public awareness about flu vaccination as a preventive tool against seasonal illnesses. Alongside the rollout, medical staff are also focusing on routine check-ups to enable early detection and prevention of more serious health conditions.
The flu vaccines are free of charge and available at all public health centers nationwide. Priority is given to the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and healthcare personnel.
The campaign aims to protect the population from seasonal influenza and reduce community spread ahead of the winter months.
