UNDP backs access to justice and digital transformation in Albania

TIRANA, Oct 7 /ATA/ – On the second day of his official visit to Albania, the United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General and Acting Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Haoliang Xu met with Minister of Justice Besfort Lamallari to discuss the progress of judicial reforms and the consolidation of new justice institutions.

Xu reaffirmed UNDP’s continued support for expanding access to justice, particularly for vulnerable groups, and for advancing the digital transformation of public justice services – a key step toward greater transparency and institutional efficiency.

UNDP remains committed to supporting sustainable, high-quality legal aid and promoting reforms that ensure justice for all citizens, in line with Albania’s EU integration process and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting underscored the strengthening partnership between Albania and the United Nations in building a more inclusive, efficient, and equitable justice system for all.
