TIRANA, Sept 26 /ATA/ – Albania will host the “Regional AI Hackathon 2025” on October 14 at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, bringing together young innovators, academia, and businesses from across the Western Balkans to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions to regional challenges.
Announcing the event on social media on Friday, Prime Minister Edi Rama described the event more than just a gathering – it is a real challenge aimed at driving change through AI.
“Young people, innovators, universities, businesses, and banks will join forces to turn their AI-driven ideas into concrete solutions. From healthcare to smart cities, education, and sustainability, we will explore together how AI can transform the Western Balkans,” Rama said.
The top projects will be selected for an AI Bootcamp on October 14, followed by the Hackathon in November 2025, where teams will further develop prototypes and pitch them for funding and support.
The “Regional AI Hackathon 2025” is a visionary initiative uniting young talent, researchers, and entrepreneurs from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Kosovo. The goal is to empower youth and the Western Balkan diaspora to co-create AI-driven solutions that promote digital transformation and address shared regional challenges.
Organizers describe the hackathon as a call to action for motivated young people to collaborate and help shape a smarter, more inclusive future for the region through the transformative power of artificial intelligence.
