Next consultation roundtable on new Criminal Code held in Vlora

TIRANA, Sept 25 /ATA/ The Ministry of Justice organized on Thursday in Vlora the next roundtable as part of the public consultation on the new Criminal Code.

In a social media post, the Ministry of Justice highlighted that the input received from judges, prosecutors, lawyers, notaries, and judicial bailiffs is highly valued and will be incorporated into the draft.
The Ministry of Justice affirmed that additional roundtable discussions and wide-ranging public consultations will be held to gather the expert insights needed for a contemporary Criminal Code that meets Brussels’ standards.
The first draft of the new Criminal Code was presented on July 25, following several years of extensive work by a group of experts led by the Director of the School of Magistrates, Professor Arben Rakipi.
Approximately 25 public consultation roundtables are planned for the draft of the new Criminal Code.

The draft was released for consultation by the Ministry of Justice with stakeholders from the justice system, international partners, universities, civil society, the media, and the government, as part of Albania’s EU accession commitments and as a necessary step toward strengthening the rule of law.
