TIRANA, Sept 24 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Socialist Party, also Prime Minister, Edi Rama, announced that the initiative to dismantle illegal constructions in Tirana will continue apace, with a focus on restoring public spaces for community use.
During a meeting with deputies from Tirana district and government ministers, Rama highlighted the need to carefully plan the next steps following this process. He stressed that these areas must not be left in a state of disrepair but will be redeveloped into high-quality public spaces that serve the entire community.
“We need to bring public spaces back to what they’re really meant for — places for the people, not for things that compromise the quality of life in the city. This is just the start of a big process, and we’re committed to making sure these areas are not taken over by stuff that doesn’t help the community,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that these spaces will be restored as part of upgraded infrastructure to enhance citizens’ quality of life and create new opportunities for social activities and interactions.
Prime Minister Rama underscored the government’s dedication to ensuring a cleaner and more orderly Tirana by eliminating all activities that adversely impact the quality of urban living.
He further noted that this initiative, which aims to enhance the city’s accessibility and functionality for all residents, constitutes a significant step forward in the modernization of the capital’s infrastructure and urban environment.
