Shalsi: Bank transfer fee cuts to save citizens €40 million annually

TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance, Eduart Shalsi, welcomed the Bank of Albania’s decision to reduce bank transfer fees for Albanian citizens.

Shalsi stated that, as a result of this regulatory measure implemented by the Bank of Albania, transaction costs associated with bank payments will decrease, thereby reducing the financial burden on consumers.

For transfers up to 40,000 lek, no fees will be charged. For amounts between 40,000 and 10 million lek, fees will range from 50 to 75 lek, while for amounts exceeding 10 million lek, fees will vary between 75 and 500 lek.
Regarding payments in euros, fees will be significantly lower than before. For amounts up to 100,000 euros, the fee will be only 0.01% of the amount, while for amounts exceeding this threshold, the fee will be capped at 25 euros.

For euro –denominated transfers from outside Albania, fees will range from zero to one euro, with a maximum of three euros within the SEPA system.
“This reduction in fees will enable Albanians to save up to 40 million euros annually,” emphasized Shalsi.
