TIRANA, September 10 /ATA/ Two days before the start of the new Parliamentary term, the Democratic Party convened today its leading board, the first meeting after losing the elections on May 11.
After an analysis of the electoral process, party Chairman Sali Berisha stated that the DP will enter the Parliament, but still it does not recognize the elections.
“It is not an option. I say to the democrats who are thinking of not entering Parliament. No, it would not be better. Under a dictatorship, you have to thank God for giving you the opportunity to fight it. Under the actual dictatorship, you suffer like Salianji, but we cannot deny that there are opportunities to fight it. On the other hand, there is required a much greater commitment and dedication from each of us”, said Berisha.
Berisha said that Albania is experiencing an autocratic dictatorship, demanding that the party grassroots should be clarified on these fundamental concepts.
“A totalitarian dictatorship excludes pluralism, while authoritarian dictatorship does not exclude pluralism, but suppresses pluralism”, said Berisha.
The leader of the DP reiterated that the Parliamentary elections were an electoral farce. Berisha stated that the elections were held under very unequal conditions.
“We engaged with all our potential in a battle with a regime that never accepts free vote. I thank the international observers for the preliminary report in which they told the Albanians and the world that the elections were not fair”, continued Berisha.
“The international community has appreciated our fair efforts in the European Parliament, in the Council of Europe, in the OSCE, in full harmony with the international report and at present, there are several institutions that will launch fact-finding missions in Albania next month,” Berisha said. /m.q/j.p/p.s./
