Berisha: Opposition to make every effort to restore free vote

TIRANA, Sept 1 /ATA/ – Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha stated Monday that the opposition would make every effort to restore free and fair vote in Albania.

Commenting on the opposition’s current situation at a press conference at the party headquarters, Berisha said that the opposition was “facing the broadest and toughest battle in its entire existence.”

According to Berisha, every decision made by election administration institutions had favored the ruling Socialist Party (PS).

“Since March 20 until today, all major legal violations and electoral crimes have been completely ignored despite hundreds of thousands of official documents. They have been ignored by the ‘narco-police’ by complaint review institutions, by the Central Election Commission (CEC), and entirely ignored by Altin Dumani. Every decision made by the so-called Electoral College has been against the opposition,” Berisha said.

“The opposition faces the widest and most difficult front in its history. It must make every effort to restore free vote to the Albanian people and free Albania from the influence of (George) Soros,” he added.

Berisha also said that DP will convene its forums in the coming days and make decisions ahead of the new parliamentary session.
