Camera surveillance to crack down on roadside littering, Balluku warns

TIRANA, August 30 /ATA/ — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, announced on Saturday that maintenance teams of the Albanian Road Authority (ARA) are carrying out daily clean-ups along national roads, removing waste dumped irresponsibly by drivers and passengers.

“ARA maintenance teams have been on a daily basis cleaning up road sections littered with waste irresponsibly thrown at rest stops by vehicle drivers and passengers,” Balluku wrote in a social media post.

She noted that despite continuous efforts from maintenance staff, the problem of roadside pollution remains a serious concern.

“Our workers have intervened consistently, but this is not enough,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

Balluku warned that cameras from the Traffic Monitoring Center will now be used to identify and fine offenders, until full public awareness is achieved.

Deputy PM made it loud and clear that the cameras of the Traffic Monitoring Center will also be used to track and fine those polluting our national roads, until complete awareness is reached, adding that everyone’s engagement is needed to keep the environment clean.
