TIRANA, August 29 /ATA/ Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime completed the investigation and sent the file against Ilir Meta and his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi for trial to the Special Court of First Instance.
SPAK has taken Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi, Pirro Xhixho, Ema Çoku and Fatime Kryemadhi as defendants.
According to SPAK, Meta is accused of, “committing the criminal offenses of “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials”, “Refusal to declare and concealment of wealth”.
Monika Kryemadhi will also face the same charges as Meta.
SPAK said that investigation was launched in 2019 and was expanded in subsequent years based on various reports. In 2024, all separate proceedings were merged into a single file.
The investigations, according to SPAK, “revealed a series of corrupt schemes, the use of political influence and power in order to favor certain businesses in return for reward, criminal offense and concealment of wealth or failure to declare significant expenses”.
Regarding the investigations carried out, the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime said that it has cooperated with the relevant authorities of the United States of America, Austria, Italy, San Marino and Cyprus. /m.q/j.p/p.s./
