TIRANA, Aug 28 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, once again declared on Thursday that the opposition will not recognize the May 11 parliamentary elections. After the result was certified by the Regulatory Commission, Berisha described the elections as an “electoral farce.”
Berisha said that his party’s representatives conducted themselves with dignity in the commission, voiced their opinions, and underscored that the process was nothing more than an electoral farce. He added that this position remains unchanged and has been clearly expressed.
During the press conference, the Democratic Party leader urged the U.S. government to “broaden its investigations into George Soros and his son to include Albania over the past 20 years.”
“They should investigate George Soros’s foreign policy, which was absolutely aligned with Belgrade and ran counter to the interests of the Albanians, to the official U.S. policy at that time, as well as to the policy pursued by President Donald Trump during his first term,” Berisha stated.
Berisha alleged in his address that the fishermen’s port in Durrës has been used for drug trafficking.
He stated that the port, constructed with more than 12 million euros in public funds, was granted without any private investment to two individuals closely tied to those in power, who, according to Italian case files, have connections to criminal organizations and narcotics trafficking.
