Denaj: Agroindustry grew by 12.3% in first half of current year

TIRANA, August 21/ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj announced that the Albanian agroindustry had a 12.3% growth during the period January-June 2025, compared to the same period last year.

“During the first half of the current year alone, Albania exported around 75 thousand tons of agroindustrial products, clearly demonstrating the growing potential of this sector,” said Denaj.

The minister emphasized the government’s strategy of support for the development of this sector.

“The government policies are oriented towards strengthening agroindustry as a key part of agricultural exports, with the aim of transforming it into a powerful engine of rural and economic development in the country,” Denaj emphasized.

According to INSTAT statistics, total agro-industrial exports for 2024 recorded a significant increase in quantity by around 21%. This indicates a growing and sustainable trend in the sector.

Agroindustry is the industry that deals with the mass production of agricultural products, where the majority of businesses in the agroindustry are flour processors, milk producers, oil producers, wine producers, meat producers, etc.

The agroindustry sector in Albania has great development potential.

In recent years, the increase in investments, thanks to support with subsidies and schemes to facilitate financing, has increased the number of businesses in the agroindustry sector, contributing to the growth of employment and income.

The government subsidizes agricultural production on a large scale and especially in products with potential, such as the production of extra virgin olive oil, encouraging the increase in the competitiveness of the agroindustry in the market and even exporting its products to elite markets. /e.xh//r.e//a.f/p.s./
