TIRANA, Aug 21 /ATA/ The Democratic Party has not reached a decision on its position regarding the mandates or its strategy for the new parliamentary session, expected to start in early September.
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said today that the decision on this issue will be made by the party’s relevant forums.
Asked at a press conference whether the opposition had reached a decision on the parliamentary mandates following the party’s accusations about the electoral process, Berisha responded, “The forums will make the appropriate decisions. In the coming days, they will convene and decide accordingly.”
Berisha also commented on yesterday’s news that the former deputy director of the National Agency for Information Society, Daniel Shima, had gone missing. His family reported him to the police, but after several hours, Shima returned home, stating that he had left for personal reasons.
On Wednesday, the police announced that “following the information provided yesterday regarding the report by citizen M. Sh. about losing contact with her son, citizen D. Sh., 34, we inform that around 2:00 a.m. this individual presented himself at Police Station No. 1 and stated that he had left of his own accord.”
Regarding the incident, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha highlighted that Shima had sent a message saying, “They are arresting me.”
“Previously off the radar and rumored about during his dismissal, he resurfaced yesterday with an SOS. At 1:30 a.m., according to sources close to the police, Shima sent a message to his partner stating, ‘They are arresting me,’” Berisha said.
The leader of the Democratic Party emphasized that “it is hard to trust the police statements, which at one point said he was headed toward Qyteti Studenti and then his trail disappeared.”
