Albania reports five wildfire hotspots, three still active

TIRANA, Aug 19 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Defence reported five wildfire hotspots across Albania on Tuesday, with three still active and two under monitoring.

The National Civil Emergency Operations Center said that the blaze in Bulqiza municipality is under observation by seven firefighting personnel to prevent reactivation from smoldering tree stumps.

Around 50 Armed Forces personnel have been deployed in two teams to ensure full containment and extinguishing of any remaining flames. Authorities say the situation is currently calm, though efforts continue to isolate the area completely.

In Bërzhitë Mountain, fires in the villages of Ibë and Durisht – part of the Bërzhitë and Petrelë administrative units in Tirana – remain active but are located in remote, hard-to-access terrain. There is currently no threat to homes or forests.

In the Gërmenj Nature Park, in Leskovik, Kolonjë municipality, the situation has improved due to both the efforts of emergency crews and rainfall on Monday afternoon.
