TIRANA, Aug 15 /ATA/ – The third edition of the Lin Festival opened on Thursday evening in the picturesque village of Lin, near Pogradec, blending traditional music and dance performances from across Albanian regions in a warm, festive atmosphere.
The event has drawn hundreds of residents and foreign tourists visiting the village, recognized as the oldest known stilt settlement in Europe. Running from August 14 to 16, the festival offers audiences a journey through local history and cultural traditions.
“Reviving cultural heritage and passing it on to younger generations is the purpose of the Lin Festival, now in its third year,” organizer Altin Tila told reporters. “It’s not only about entertaining locals and visitors, but also about ensuring these values are preserved.”
The festival program features performances by tenor Adhurim Grezda, singer-songwriter Adhurim Demiri, soprano Nina Muho, Blerina Shera and Stefano di Matteo, among others.
As part of the event, Albania’s General Directorate of Archives presented an exceptional photography exhibition showcasing works by renowned Korça masters Vani Burda and Thimi Raci. Displayed under the festival lights and musical backdrop, the images bring to life early 20th-century south-eastern Albania through portraits, landscapes and rare documentary moments.
This is the second consecutive year that the archives authority participates in the Lin Festival, bringing its cultural treasures closer to both the local community and international visitors.
