TIRANA, Aug 12 /ATA/ – Albanian authorities reported 50 wildfire outbreaks across the country in the past 24 hours, with 19 still active as of Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Fires remain active in several regions, including Vlora, Berat, Tirana, Dibër, Kukës, and Gjirokastër.

Some have threatened homes and led to evacuations, notably in Poliçan and Rehovë. A major fire continues to burn near the Blue Eye Nature Park in southern Albania, where national and international aerial firefighting units are deployed.

In total, over 1,000 personnel and 82 fire engines have been mobilized nationwide, supported by aerial assets from Croatia, Greece, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the UAE, and the Albanian Air Force.

Authorities warn of continued high to very high fire risk due to extreme temperatures, forecast to reach up to 41°C in lowland areas. Citizens are urged to report any new fire outbreaks immediately.
