TIRANA, August 8/ATA/ There is still a fire burning in a pine forest between Patos and Mallakastra. The fire started yesterday while there is expected again a helicopter fighting the fire in the affected area from the air by dropping water.
In a statement to the ATA, Prefect of Fieri region Arben Çuko said that operational troops are working on the ground while yesterday there was carried out an air intervention in an effort to put out the fire.
“In Fier region, there is an active fire in Lofkënd-Drenie forest area. The fire is burning in the territory of Mallakastra municipality”, said Çuko.
According to Prefect of Fier region, there are operating on the ground 5 firefighting vehicles, 25 Fire Protection personnel, 25 Armed Forces troops, as well as 20 municipal forces.
Çuko said that on the western side of the fire, it is impossible to operate with vehicles or forces, due to the rugged terrain.
According to the prefect, today there will be taken other air missions in an effort to extinguish the fire. /r.e/p.s./
