TIRANA, Aug 8 /ATA/ In Tragjas, Vlora, efforts are underway to extinguish a fire that broke out this afternoon.
The Mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, informed on social media today that “firefighting forces are currently on the ground, working intensively to put out the fire in the Tragjas area.”
“Despite difficult terrain conditions, all necessary containment measures are being implemented to contain fire hotspots and prevent further fire spread,” reported Dredha, who is currently on-site conducting an operational assessment.
A wildfire has engulfed Tragjas Mountain, where the terrain poses significant challenges for firefighting interventions.
Meanwhile, several fires have broken out in various parts of the country in recent days. As a result of activating the European Civil Protection Mechanism, two “Air Tractor Fire Boss” aircraft from the Swedish Air Force and one “Canadair” aircraft from the Croatian Air Force arrived in Albania early this morning to assist in managing the wildfire situation.
