Kurti: We will abide by Constitutional Court’s ruling

PRISTINA, Aug 6 /ATA/ Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stated on Wednesday that his party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, will accept the upcoming decision of the country’s highest court regarding the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo. The Constitutional Court is expected to issue its ruling by August 8, amid a prolonged political deadlock following the February 9 elections.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo is expected to issue a ruling by August 8 regarding the constitution of the Assembly, following a prolonged political deadlock after the elections held earlier this year

“I think we should wait just a few more days. They will let us know what they think will happen after the 30-day deadline. I don’t know what the solution will be, of course, but we have said that we will respect the ruling of the Constitutional Court. It is a great loss that Kosovo does not have an Assembly,” Kurti told the journalists.

At the end of last month, the Constitutional Court ordered the deputies not to take any decisions or actions related to the constitution of the Assembly until August 8, while it is reviewing two cases.

Kosovo is currently facing a deep political crisis due to the failure to establish new institutions following the February 9 elections.

Since April 15, Kosovo’s deputies have failed in 54 separate attempts to constitute the new Assembly—a crucial step for forming a new government. This impasse stems from the fact that no party won a majority in the February 9 elections, making it impossible for any single group to govern alone
