TIRANA, August 4/ATA/ The Academy of Sciences expressed its condolences today on Robert Papavrami passing away.
“The Arts Committee at the Academy of Sciences expresses its deepest condolences to the world-famous violinist Tedi Papavrami, on the passing away of Robert Papavrami, his father and teacher,” reads a post from the Academy of Sciences.
“The Albanian violin school today is poorer with this loss, but we are consoled that his artistic legacy continues into new heights, thanks to your achievements, dear Tedi”, emphasized the Academy of Sciences.
Robert Papavrami is one of the well-known figures of music in Albania. The son of Dr. Theodhor Papavrami, Robert grew up in a traditional family, where the most important thing was duty. The young Robert distinguished himself as a violinist with soul, becoming a violin teacher and producing many violinists for decades.
Even after settling in France where he ran a school, he continued with his passion for discovering talent and training young violinists. Many of his students have made their debuts and continue to be well-known on the world’s stages.
One of these students is his son, Tedi Papavrami, now a world-famous violinist.
In November 2014, Robert Papavrami, the violin teacher of several generations of Albanian artists, was honored by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Medal of Gratitude for his long-standing contribution to Albanian art.
At a reception specially organized by the prime minister, in the Hall of Maps at the government building, his friends, family, collaborators and former students shared memories and emotions, with a sense of gratitude for what Professor Robert meant to Albanian instrumentalists. /gj.m/r.e//a.f/p.s./
