TIRANA, August 4 /ATA/ – The Albanian government’s “Mountain Package” initiative, aimed at boosting investment and economic development in mountainous areas, has so far received 3,308 applications nationwide, with the highest number, 687, recorded in the northern region of Shkodra.
According to the Media and Information Agency (MIA), strong interest is evident across the country, with high participation from citizens, farmers, and entrepreneurs. Other leading regions include Elbasan (348), Vlora (378), and Kukës (324).
The initiative offers financial and fiscal incentives to encourage early and sustainable investment in tourism, agriculture, and livestock sectors in remote but high-potential regions. Applications remain open through the end of 2025.
The first 500 applicants will benefit from 10 years of tax relief, aiming to spark long-term development and reduce depopulation in rural areas.
