TIRANA, July 30 /ATA/ – Starting August 1, Albania will implement a new unified medical prescription format across both public and private healthcare sectors.
Health Minister Albana Koçiu announced the reform during visits to pharmacies in Tirana, highlighting that the new format improves clarity for pharmacists, ensures greater patient safety, and enhances treatment tracking.
The updated prescription requires a diagnosis, uses generic drug names, and includes key details like the pharmacist’s name and stamp. It also allows doctors to issue prescriptions valid for up to six months, especially benefiting patients with chronic conditions.
“This is a major step toward safer, more efficient healthcare,” Koçiu stated.
