Wildfire situation stabilizes in southern Albania

TIRANA, July 27 /ATA/ – The wildfire situation in the southern Albanian coastal villages of Borsh and Lukovë has stabilized, Defense Minister Pirro Vengu announced Sunday.

According to Defense Minister, operational crews and the Armed Forces remain on the ground to monitor developments and respond to any renewed threats.

Two Air Force helicopters resumed aerial firefighting early in the morning to contain blazes that had endangered homes and businesses due to strong winds.

Overnight, firefighters and troops established safety perimeters around residential areas. Police and civil emergency personnel assisted in evacuating 40 people from high-risk zones to safety.
