TIRANA, July 7 (ATA) – Work has completed on restoration of the historic “7 Springs” area in the museum city of Gjirokastër as part of broader efforts to enhance the southern Albanian city’s appeal as a cultural and tourism destination, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Monday.
Posting images of the cobbled paths and connecting streets on social media, Rama said the newly upgraded site opens a new route for discovering the “hidden beauties” of the UNESCO-listed stone city.
“The restoration of cobblestone paths and access roads in the ‘7 Springs’ area has created a new trail to explore the hidden gems of the city of stone, adding another attraction to Albania’s southern tourism map,” Rama wrote.
The “7 Springs” project is part of a wider urban and tourism revitalization initiative in Gjirokastër, one of Albania’s most distinctive cities and a key site of national cultural heritage.
