TIRANA, July 1 /ATA/ – The Albanian Road Authority (ARRSG) has launched two tender procedures with a total estimated budget of 6 billion lek for the construction of two sections of a 21.5-kilometre bypass road in the western and southern parts of Tirana, Albanian capital.
The project follows completion of the Big Ring Road last year and the new southern bypass in Tirana aims to reduce traffic congestion in the Albanian capital.
The 21-kilometer four-lane bypass road along the Erzen Valley is designed to divert vehicles from the city center. The road will also feature emergency lanes on both sides, with a total paved width of 22.4 meters and a planned speed limit of 110 km/h.
The project’s total budget is 209 million euros, with 81 million euros funded by the Albanian government and the remainder provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), ARRSH official Niko Mihali told reporters on Tuesday.
The project aims to minimize environmental and community impact and is expected to be completed within 24 months after the contract is signed.
Officials say the bypass will help ease traffic and improve Albania’s road infrastructure in line with European standards.
