TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ The European Affairs Committee reviewed and approved by majority vote the draft law “On the National Strategy against Foreign Intervention and Disinformation”.
Chairwoman of the Committee Jorida Tabaku emphasized that she is against the draft law because in her judgment it also takes responsibility for the Parliamentary sectoral line committees, in this case the Media Committee.
“A large part of the draft law is related to media freedom,” said Tabaku.
Addressing MP Erion Braçe, Tabaku also said that the law on strategic investments should be banned.
“There should be created a complete legislative framework regarding investments and this will include foreign investments. Albania has a law dating back to 1993. Hence, there should be a clear mechanism for the analysis of foreign investments,” said Tabaku.
Tabaku also reacted to the draft law for some amendments to the law “On Strategic Investments,” as proposed by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance Eduard Shalsi.
“MP Shalsi has presented a draft law which runs counter to the strategy that you have presented today, but even to the government stance on the issue. The draft law consists of only one paragraph that will determine by government decision the structure and the analysis process of the foreign investments. What we need is a full analysis process.
