TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/- The Council of Ministers has approved creation of a task force to oversee implementation of Albania-Italy migration agreement.
Proposed by the Interior Minister, the task force will coordinate, monitor, and supervise the execution of the protocol and its implementing agreement, ensuring institutional responsibilities are aligned.
Chaired by the Deputy Interior Minister for migration affairs, the task force includes deputy ministers from relevant ministries, senior officials from the State Police and Armed Forces, and a technical secretariat.
Its duties include drafting a unified action plan, identifying institutional responsibilities in unforeseen scenarios, addressing requests from the Italian Embassy in Tirana, and issuing decisions for relevant agencies.
A technical secretariat will support coordination and manage documentation from the Italian side.
The task force will remain active until the agreement’s full implementation. Institutions must appoint their representatives within 10 days of the decision’s entry into force. The deal aims to boost bilateral cooperation on managing migration and strengthening security.
