Funar, quickly emerging as popular tourist destination

TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ –  Funar, located around 20 kilometers from the central Albanian city of Elbasan, is quickly emerging as one of Albania’s most exiting destinations for adventure sports enthusiasts in recent years.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media to share a gallery of pictures showing Funar in central region of Elbasan, saying its tranquil environment, scenic beauty, and outdoor activities make Funar attractive to visitors seeking a peaceful retreat and adventure.

Funar offers hiking trails, picnicking spots, and adventure sports opportunities such as parachuting, kayaking on the lake, horseback riding, mountain biking. The area offers a blend of adventure and relaxation, appealing to various travelers, including families, couples, and solo adventurers.

Rich in pine and oak forests and home to four lakes or reservoirs, Funar offers a healthy climate, as well as delicious traditional food, making the area an ideal weekend getaway and perfect place for outdoor activities.

Funar was almost consigned to oblivion due to underinvestment until recently, as it took three hours to get to the destination compared to just one hour now.

Efforts are being made to promote Funar, including initiatives by local citizens and government agencies.
