TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ President Bajram Begaj paid an official visit today to Prizren where he participated in the celebration of the 147th anniversary of the Albanian League of Prizren, emphasizing the historical significance and the spirit of national unity that this event represents.
At the beginning of the visit, President Begaj met Mayor of Prizren Shaqir Totaj.
Then, together with representatives of the municipality and citizens of Prizren, he walked on foot from the White House to the Complex of the Albanian League of Prizren, where he laid a wreath of flowers in honor of this marked event.
The president was also accompanied on this activity by a group of students from the “League of Prizren” school in Tirana, as part of his initiative to get acquainted with Albanian history and historical sites from very close, visiting cultural objects in all ethnic lands.
In his speech, the Head of State praised the Albanian League of Prizren as the political and spiritual foundation of national unity, emphasizing that it represents the day when the movement for independence began.
President Begaj highlighted the courage and will of our ancestors, who, despite the lack of great powers, fought for the right to exist, language and territory.
He described history as the breath and blood that connects us all, calling the League of Prizren part of the heart of every honest Albanian.
In conclusion, the president called for more love for the Albanian language, culture and identity, encouraging inspiration from the bravery of the League of Prizren for building a just, educated and united society. /p.s./
