TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated on Monday during a press conference that every person who has requested to count the votes in the Democratic Party has had their request accepted.
Berisha said that this process is solely about what is called transparency.
Berisha stated, “Anyone who has questioned the vote counting here has been encouraged to request a recount. Those with concerns about the counting commissions’ results should do so—not out of suspicion about the outcome, but because I believe transparency is the most effective way to resolve any doubts. I have no personal interest or agenda in this process.”
Berisha described the May 11 elections as the most significant campaign of his career, emphasizing that every candidate was expected to deliver their best performance.
The Democratic Party chairman expressed that, together with the Albanian people and the international community, he has a mission to restore free voting rights.
“This mission is both epic and historic. Today, no Albanian genuinely regards a vote as a true vote.”
Berisha stated that the Democratic Party is presenting irrefutable evidence to the media, the Albanian people, and the international community, which fully delegitimize the post-election government.
The head of the Democratic Party also accused the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Altin Dumani, of being the key figure behind the electoral fraud.
Berisha emphasized that legal positions will be evaluated case by case and upheld when aligned with the rule of law, while decisions on referring matters to SPAK depend on the authorities and individual candidate requests.
