TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ Head of the Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents Gentiana Sula received today Rector of the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”, Prof. Dr. Tonin Gjuraj.
The meeting focused on promotion of concrete cooperation for the inclusion of public universities in the process of documenting and shedding light on Albania’s communist past, through the scientific use of the archives of the former State Security.
Prof. Dr. Gjuraj praised the role of the Authority as an important bridge between the younger generation and historical memory.
Sula underlined the significance of this cooperation.
The interlocutors also discussed on the possibility of organization of a joint scientific symposium, which will be held in cooperation with the University of Shkodra and the Municipality of Shkodra.
This symposium will address the events on the border and the methods the State Security pursued to control and suppress the population in this region during the dictatorship. /a.f/p.s./
