Parliament approves calendar of proceedings, DP’s request rejected

TIRANA, May 29/ATA/ Under the chair of Speaker Elisa Spiropali, there was held the first plenary session of the Assembly after the Parliamentary elections of May 11.

The agenda of today’s session carried approval of the Assembly’s proceedings program for the period May 29 – July 8, 2025 and the calendar of the Assembly’s proceedings for the period May 29 – June 18, 2025.

The session began with debates, after head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi had filed a request with the Assembly to change the agenda of today’s plenary session and to abide by Article 45 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

Bardhi requested a 60 minutes of off-the-agenda discussion to be included in the session.

However, the Speaker of the Assembly stated that, until today, no Parliamentary activity has been held to discuss issues off the agenda. Discussions outside the agenda are only foreseen in ordinary sessions, according to Article 45.

The proposal to change the agenda was rejected by a majority vote.
